Twenty-seven years ago my lfe was irrevocably altered for the better. That was the day Sandi became Mrs. Metal Dad. She is the most remarkable woman I have ever known. Kind, caring, totally unselfish, she has been the perfect balance and check to my misanthropy. She has held fast through life events which would have caused lesser women to run screaming into the night.
She is an amazing mother to our children as well as a half-dozen or so more who lived with us for periods of time. The last one became a permanent addition to our family about ten years ago. Mrs. Metal Dad recently began a career in nursing and tends to folks in a local convalescent center as well as the Special Ed Coop in our county.
I am a better man today because of her. I am a better father than I could have ever been because of her. I've quoted this in reference to her before and I see no reason not to repeat it: "At the end of the day, I measure all other women against her and find them wanting."
Happy Anniversary, Sandi. I love you more than my meager words can express.
