Now I am all for being polite and if my smoking bothers someone I will not light up. Just simple consideration. But there are some real inconsistencies in society's view of what is acceptable and not.
The school nurse at my daughter's high school will not give her an aspirin without my knowledge and permission yet she could obtain contraceptives or an abortion without her parents being notified. Alcohol and alcohol related incidents cause thousands of deaths. It's a pretty dangerous drug but its consumption is legal and the government benefits from its sale. Pot, on the other hand, has less deleterious effects. But one cannot consume it legally in the privacy of one's home.
Went to see my doctor yesterday for a regular check up. He's a nice guy, pretty young. I think he is recently graduated from medical school. He always asks me if I'm ready to quit smoking. This last time I told him I would probably never quit since it may soon be an act of political defiance. He just laughed.
