If you read the comment on the previous post you'll see my sister gave some recommendations for dealing with the squirrel assault on the birdfeeder I recently set up in our backyard. I had considered electrifying it but upon reflection thought that would be a mean thing to do. I've decided to leave tidbits for the squirrels and rabbits in another part of the yard to distract them from the birdfeeder.
But it brought to mind a story David Niven related in his book Bring on the Empty Horses about Errol Flynn. Seems he and Flynn used to frequent a bar in Hollywood whose owner got tired of dogs pissing on his building. He had a metal plate installed on the side of the building and wired it up. When a poor, unsuspecting dog passed by and pissed on the plate the circuit was completed and the dog got a painful shock to a very sensitive part of its body. One day Niven and Flynn were passing by the bar with Flynn's dog in tow, The dog relieved himself against the building getting shocked in the process. Flynn was incensed and being a notorious brawler went into the bar and promptly demolished the owner/bartender.
