Had the CABG surgery Tuesday, triple-bypass. They had to keep me in hospital to monitor my vitals while they flushed the Plavix out of my system which was given me when I had the Myocardial Infarction. Surgery went well, from what Mrs. Metal Dad said. they had a bit of trouble getting me off the ventilator post-surgery but once they did recovery started. The doctors, nurses, and techs at Hinsdale Hospital, Illinois are caring, providing a very holistic approach to my recovery. Was discharged yesterday and now begin the next phase of my cardiac rehab. One of the cardiologists told me, "There's no reason you won't be hunting bear in Alaska or running a marathon in 6 months if you follow a good rehab program."
I am very grateful to God for the great care I received, good insurance, and support from family. Both sons have made themselves available to help around the house, especially with TLoML. My brother-in-law Bob was a constant presence at hospital even when I was out of it and was on the phone often with his sister, my wife. The Half of the Glimmer Twins to Whom I'm Not Married put her own life on hold for the most part to be support to my family. My own sisters and my nieces were in touch sending good thoughts and encouragement my way quite often. I am incredibly blessed.
