It's been 2 weeks since my open-heart surgery and 10 days at home post surgery. I'm not just sitting around, am beginning rehab through limited walking and some breathing exercises. Living on coffee and cigarettes. eggs fried in bacon grease, etc. are now things of the past. It would be absurd beyond absurd to have gone through this surgery only to return to practices that helped get me here. #2 Son, who is an enthusiastic vegan, cannot wait to begin helping me plan my menus. I'll listen to his suggestions but I still think a good place for some animals is on the plate next to the potatoes and gravy.
Watched some of the Republican debate with Mrs. Metal Dad. Watching them and listening to them I kept thinking of the Chatterer Cenobite from Hellraiser.
Mrs. Metal Dad bought me a book, Heart, by Dick Cheney and his longtime cardiologist Johnathan Reiner. Now, I think Cheney is a lying, murdering war criminal but I read the book. The medical portions were fascinating. I learned a lot about heart disease I didn't know.
A Kentucky clerk doesn't want to issue marriage licenses to same-sex applicants because it goes against her religious principles. Simple solution: resign your post if its duties offend your conscience. The State doesn't care what you believe. The State merely wants you to obey and if you accept their money (not really "their" money since the State has no money it hasn't stolen via the threat of violence) then you have to comply with their rules.
Some videos have surfaced which raise questions about ethical practices at Planned Parenthood. Let me state that I am unapologetically and unreservedly opposed to abortion on demand. There is no right to abortion in the Constitution. These videos will change no minds. Those opposed to wholesale abortion will continue to oppose it. Those who hold abortion as the holiest sacrament in the current culture of Self will continue to defend the practice.
