It's been a light, powdery snow so it's not as pretty as last week's dusting. Of course I loved the snow when I was a kid in the city but as I get older I like the cold and snow less. Naive dumbass that I was, I recall the 1967 blizzard when the whole neighborhood was digging out each other's cars and working together to clear the alley so folks could get cars out of garages. I remember thinking, "Why can't people get along like this and work together all the time?" The answer is obvious to me now. Human nature is not inherently good.
I reckon I need to adjust my attitudes regarding winter since Mrs. Metal Dad and I have been kicking around the idea of relocating to Minnesota at some point in the future. Apparently the Great White North has many services available for special needs while Illinois is pretty much dead last of the 50 states. My sisters are spread out from the Carolinas to the Rockies and The Glimmer Twins have a ridiculous number of relatives in the Land of One Million Mosquitos . Just kicking the tires at this juncture, no concrete plans yet.
