To be discriminating is defined as "having or showing refined taste or good judgement." When used as a verb it means "recognize a distinction, differentiate."
In Human Action, Ludwig von Mises wrote, "As soon as the economic freedom which the market economy grants to its members is removed, all political liberties and bills of rights become humbug." If one cannot choose from whom to buy or sell, without interference, then the marketplace is not truly free. All associations must be voluntary, free from coercion or they are not freely made. Interference in markets to bring about desired outcomes is an affront to personal liberty.
